Obituary of Janice Arlyne McMonigle

It is with sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Janice McMonigle (nee Small) on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Saint John Loch Lomond Villa. Janice was born in Saint John, NB, July 18, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Burton and Ellen Zenobia (Cawley) Small.

Survived and sadly missed by her husband, William McMonigle of Saint John; daughters: Ellen Belyea of St. Stephen, NB, Maryanne McNamara (Mac) of Pembroke, MA, and Cecily Stewart (Douglas) of Utopia, NB; grandchildren: Sean, Meghan, William and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Catherine, Max and Toni; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Belyea; brother, Stanford; and sister, Joan.

Janice finally retired at the age of 70 as a medical office assistant, primarily within the neurology field, and always reminded us that it was an honour to be able to work and to always look for a happy face!  She was at her happiest when giving.  One never left the house without a bag of goodies – always reaching out to those in need.

Other than her family, Jan loved to ‘start’ knitting projects, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and gardening.  Most of all she loved music, and family sing-a-longs with her Mom at the piano.

We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the awesome and dedicated nurses and staff of Elm House.  Your kindness and care will not be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).  By request, there will be no visitation. Interment and family graveside prayers will take place at a later date at the Maces Bay Cemetery, NB.
