Obituary of George Eugene Johnston

With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of George Eugene Johnston announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Saint John on August 3, 1943, he was a son of the late James and Angela (White) Johnston.

George will be missed by his wife Pamela (Saunders) Johnston; children: Matthew Johnston, Bridget Johnston (Normand), Rose Anne Johnston; step-children Scott Reid (Lisa) and Jocilyn Waycott (Trevor); six grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings Linda Rowe (Sonny), Angela Daigle (Ralph) and James Masocato; the mother of his children Anne Flecknell Melanson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Masocato and a sister-in-law Anita Masocato.

George loved rock and roll music and dancing. You could often find him and Pam dancing together at the Villa. He was a life-long member of Stella Maris Church and spent many years as a senior altar server. George was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus 6595 and was extremely proud of the help they were able to give to their community. He enjoyed the times he was able to go fishing at Chet’s camp in Maine with his best friend Dougie Davis and the boys.

George’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the Doctor’s, nurses and all the staff of Elm House for their compassionate care. Your kindness is so appreciated and will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
