Obituary of Yvette Jean Roy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvette Jean Roy, which occurred on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 11th, 1962, Yvette was the eldest daughter of Raymond Sr. and Carole (Nickerson) Roy.
Predeceased by her grandmother and grandfather who raised her, Yvonne(May) and Victor Roy as well as her father, Raymond Sr. Roy.
Yvette recently retired from Rocmaura Nursing Home after 31 years of dedication to the care of her residents. She took great pride in providing the best care and made sure to include some humour and fun in her interactions with the residents, their families and her co-workers.
Yvette had a selfless soul and a heart of gold. She loved to do nothing more than enjoy the simple things in life; a night of dancing, a game of crib, a good movie (which she would fall asleep watching) and most importantly, a gathering with family and friends that included some good laughs. Yvette will be greatly missed and fondly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who always adorned a beautiful smile.
Yvette is survived by her son Kenny (Janice) Harnish, her daughter Leanna (Jason) Snow, her mother, Carole Roy, brothers, Raymond Jr, Richard (Kim), Brian (Kim) and sisters, Heather (Donnie) Lockhart, Lynn (Dan) Freitas. Grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Jacob, Josh, Jack and Lauren and one great-granddaughter, Abigail. “I love to the moon and back.” As well as her first love and father of her children, Wallace Harnish and several nieces and nephews.
Yvette was fortunate to have had her partner, Clayton Smith, her best friend Debbie Crossman, sister, Heather and special sister by choice, Tanya (Dave) Dempsey by her side. Yvette was so thankful for the continuous love and support she received throughout her courageous battle with cancer.
Special thanks to the incredible staff at Bobby’s Hospice for their exceptional care. Yvette felt at peace as soon as she arrived and we will forever be grateful for this.
“See you in my dreams.”
