Deepest sympathy on the passing of Mrs. Finley. I transferred to the Recovery Room in 1991 as the Assistant Unit Manager and always enjoyed my interaction with Mrs. Finley. Everything she did was for the benefit of the OR patients.

I’m so thankful to have known Marietta “Little Lamb” for all of my life, and to have spent quality time and conversation with her. Having had her as my grandmother, she was a pillar in our family sharing a bounty of wisdom, cheer, compassion as well as the most luxurious feasts you could ever imagine!
How her nick-name came to be: As a toddler when i was learning to say “Marietta”, it sounded to me like “Mary had a” and so I naturally finished it off with “ Little Lamb”! She got such a kick out of it that the name stuck so I have always referred to her as “Little Lamb”. The name had even greater meaning to me when i discovered these words later in life:
What man among you, who has 100 sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it? When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep!’ I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who think they don’t need repentance.
...I witnessed Gods pursuit of His Little Lamb :)
It has been difficult missing our phone conversations since she’s been in care, and now it will be difficult to adjust to her absence. However, i trust she made the most important decision ...to allow her Great Shepherd to carry her Home into Gods loving arms.
Wishing Daniel & I could be home with you all!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all your family. I worked with Mrs. Finley from the age of 18 in the OR (not knowing what to expect) as her secretary. She was my mentor and always encouraged me to work hard and advance in my career. She always had an ear for any of her staff and was a wonderful person. I have many happy memories of her ( I did get caught by her once or twice not behaving properly) but she would roll her eyes and I then knew it was time to behave. When I knew she was retiring I knew it was my time to move on - but I still asked for her advice on more than one occasion. Memories are a wonderful thing to hold dear - I know loss is hard - but she is now with the love of her life again - and wondering what all the fuss is about.

Marietta Finley was a great boss. She always listened to her staff and treated us fairly. She took great pride in going to farewell dinners and even went to the tavern with us on one occasion !
She was one of a kind! My deepest sympathy to Debbie and David and all the family.

It was a shock to open today's paper and read of Marietta's passing after a long life and a distinguished career. I smile inwardly at the memory of many joyful gatherings at my/my parents' home after Y Chorale or St. Paul's choir practices -- also getting lost on Grand Bay in the fog on Don and Dot Fullerton's small cruiseboat. My thanks to David and Debbie for your faithful support of your mom, and my condolences to the extended family.

I worked for her in my beginning nursing career as ‘ Nick’ ,she was a great head nurse in the old Saint John General ORs. I also sang in the Saint Paul’s choir with her. She was a kind and thoughtful nurse leader. Nick also came to Girl Guide camp and acted as the camp nurse. Condolences to Debbie and David.
