David and I met Phyllis in 1969. We drove Margaret and John and Jennifer to St. John for a weekend (they did not have a car). Mrs Sutherland put us up, entertained us and fed us . She made us feel so comfortable. We met her several times after that always on flying visits to New Brunswick. She was always a person that we admired and respected. We wish the family much love and our sincere condolences.

Thinking of the family. Phyllis was a wonderful neighbour and friend. I have many wonderful memories of her. She always allowed me to use her well kept driveway for rollerblading and always was there for me and my family. She will be missed.

I met Phyllis in the early 70’s when I started to curl at Riverside. She was a very good instructor for the game and a great curler herself. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She will me missed.

Was sad to hear of Phil’s passing. She nominated me for a director for the NBLCA when we curled in ladies at Riverside in the 70’s. She was the curl Canada Rep. for many years and sat for me on the board x3 presidencies .
A lovely person and great friend.
Condolences to her extended family. Ruth

My deepest condolences to all the Sutherland family on the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful lady and always fun to chat with. She and her husband were great friends of my parents ( Jock and V Caskey); were part of the great duck hunting group at the Washedamoak; our dads were colleagues, as well as curling friends at Riverside Club.
She will be missed by her family and many life long friends. May she Rest In Peace and many your memories of her bring smiles to your faces and hearts.
Sincerely,
Clare Caskey (and family)

To all the Sutherland family, my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. What a great lady she was, so gracious, full of vitality and also a lot of fun. Mary, you know how much I admired her.
You each will have a special memory of the years of growing up; share with each other and cherish those memories.
She certainly had a long and fully productive life.

My condolences to you all on the passing of your mother. I have fond memories of your mother and father as great friends of Mom and Dad and our fathers as colleagues. To the entire Sutherland Clan,
I'm so sadden to hear of your Mom's passing (Aunt Phyllis to me - my Godmother!). Your Mom was always one of my greatest role models, especially during my impressionistic adolescent years! She always remembered my birthdays (I still have the Fred Ross posters she gave me over a number of years) and she always expressed great interest and encouragement in whatever I was undertaking. I could never have asked for a greater role model/Godmother (and Godfather - Uncle Don).
As you so well know, our parents had a long and special relationship. I dare say they were best of friends for most of their adult lives. They shared so much together; close neighbours for so many years, their respective professional and community service, interests in antiques & travel, and of course the occasional neighbour ‘dress-up party’ (while enjoying a splash or two of the ole ‘White Star!). Their life-long friendship was indeed something special, a unique kind of bond that I have always admired and will forever cherish.
I am very saddened at Aunt Phyllis’s passing .… but at the same time feel so very fortunate to have had such a wonderful person in my life.
Thinking of you all during this very difficult time.
Our deepest condolences, Stephen Toning (and Linda Williams)

We have so many great memories of Phyl at Riverside, she was always so energetic and happy. I, Sue, had the privilege of being coached for Curling by her as she tried her best to get us, Carol Daniels team, ready for the Provincials.
Unfortunately, I think we tried too hard, as we seemed to get worse and worse!
We did, however, have a lot of fun. She was truly an amazing lady.
Our condolences go to all the family at this difficult time.
May she Rest In Peace.

Donna and I are so sorry to learn of the passing of a wonderful lady. We so enjoyed her company over the years at the bridge table and other events at Riverside. She was always so full of life and she will be missed by all who knew her. We enjoyed being with her and always her sense of humour and fun. A great loss to all of us who spent time with her and especially her family.
