After working in Toronto, Gus returned to Saint John to pursue a career in Carpentry. He worked for the Saint John Dry Dock for several years, built houses, and after retirement in 1997 Gus still enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Gus was a Worshipful Brother, Past Master and member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 13 for over 60 years. He was recognized for his long service and dedication, and made a life member.
Gus always had a love for the water. He enjoyed many hours boating on the Kennebecasis River with "Misty Blue", and socializing at the Renforth Boat Club.
During retirement Gus and Janette travelled extensively, spending many winters in Florida in their trailer. They loved travelling with friends and family on road trips, bus tours, and cruises. In later years they spent time summering in Saint Andrews.
Gus had a passion for music, and as a talented guitarist, he was always found jamming with friends wherever they went. He always had a smile to greet you, a joke to share, a hand to lend, and a beverage to offer.
