Obituary of Muriel Bertha Laird
It is with great sorrow, but also with immense gratitude for the 107 years our Mama was blessed with, that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Muriel Laird, at her residence in the Turnbull Home on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Born January 13, 1914 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha (Ready) Ferrie.
Muriel was happiest around family, and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was able to live with her daughter into her 90s, before moving to the Turnbull Home, where she was treated so well. Her family are so very grateful for every staff member for their care, love, friendship, compassion, and attention shown to Muriel, and for making her a part of their family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Muriel is survived by her children, Joan Lignos (Michael) and David Laird (Wendy); granddaughter, Tina Thibodeau (Rob); great-grandson, Andrew Thibodeau; sister, Ruby VanWart; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her husband, David G. Laird; brother, Robert Ferrie; and sisters: Annie Kemp, Mabel Johnston, Hazel Watson, Marjorie Laird, Edith Keleher, and Eva Fisher.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Graveside prayers will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1 pm. For those who wish, remembrances to the Turnbull Home would be appreciated by the family.
