I worked at the Bowlarama West for many years and bowled both with and against Bob for just as many if not more. He was good friends with my Gramps and always had a smile or was dancing a jig.
I’ve thought of him often over the years and was very sorry to hear of his passing.
My sincere condolences to his family. He was definitely one of the good guys.

Uncle Bob's passing has brought back a few fond memories.
The first being from a time when the Lyon brood was smaller (and more manageable). He and Aunt Eva would occasionally take Dawne and me to the Grand Bay Drive-In - can't say for sure what movie(s) we saw but most likely a PG Western or Disney flick. Just remember how cool it was to have them treat us so good like that and getting a drive in their brand new '67 Mercury Meteor - teal with a white roof - that 2-door fastback style looked pretty sharp.
Move on to about 1971 when Dad built on the huge addition to our family home - he and his brother Eldon did all the framing and closing it in... and whether others were aware or not, brother-in-law Bob had the plumbing skills, putting in all the new ABS pipe and copper lines and I remember watching how meticulous he was - every joint and solder looked perfect to this 10-year old kid. I remember Dad having a tough time convincing him to take anything for his efforts. Back then, the labour alone would have probably cost several hundred dollars - against his nature and probably more to get Dad to stop pressuring him, he accepted $50.
Skip ahead about six more years to July of 1977 - Bob and Eva had recently bought adjoining properties in Public Landing and were doing a full-blown gut and reno of the house they occupied. They hired me on for the month to help with the grunt work - digging drainage ditches, a lot of scraping, sanding, painting and varnishing floors, doors and trim - inside and out. Their contractor was an older francophone gentleman and his two-man crew - I remember he generously went out of his way to pick me up most mornings (unless he forgot) and I'd cram into his truck on that single bench seat and try my best to decipher the joke he was telling and if the punchline didn't get me laughing, the way he told it in his best-effort Anglais did.
Bob missed most of the chaos that month at least - probably by (wise choice) - heading out in his NBTel truck. By the end of the summer when I visited to collect my pay, he and Eva had already moved on to their next project - that small cottage-look place just a short distance away from his Mom and Dad (Alma's home to this day). I remember thinking that $226.58 was pretty generous as he wrote out the cheque - kind of like 'I told you what we'd pay you... you worked for it... here you go' - it was spending money all the way through Grade 12 and got me a new duffle ag for my books, my first pair of Kodiak work boots and my graduation suit. Thank you Uncle Bob.

Alma and all of Bob's family are in our thoughts and prayers. Francis and I watched the live feed of the funeral and it was a lovely tribute to a wonderful and patient man. Bob was a member of The Rhythm Valley cloggers and it was a joy to have Bob on board when we danced in public. He was a special member and friend who never got nervous before a performance and would often calm the nerves of those who were performing. I don't think Bob never missed a step both in life and in dancing. He was a quiet and gentle man and a tower of strength to those around him. Rest in peace Bob and don't forget your 'double toe'.

My loving memories of you, Bob, are many. Even though I have been away living in the US for many years, whenever I would visit you and the family, I loved your warm spirit and wonderful smile when I would kid with you and tease you with your friends at the donut shop. You were always like my big brother too. I loved you and still love you and will always love you, Bob. You are a great man and a loving man. Just the best in my book. Rest in peace my brother. Signed with love, Carol Wilson Schultz.

My Deepest Sympathy to Bob Reid's Family on his recent passing, the first time I had the opportunity to meet Bob was in 1968 when he sold his home on Douglas Ave.to my Mother. I also would run into Bob occasionally in the mid 1970's when I worked at the Old NB Telephone Company. Bob Reid was a very kind and good natured gentleman. May he rest in Peace for a Life Well Lived
