I have read of Jim's death in the UNB Alumni News. While I have not been in contact with him since we graduated from UNB I have thought of him from time to time remembering with fondness our conversations and his wit and erudition.
My most sincere condolences to his family.

My deepest sympathies and prayers are with James' family and friends. I knew him only from interactions while visiting his home with meals on wheels but he was one of my favorite clients. He was always ready for me and was so pleasant and gracious when he answered the door. I miss him on my route. Even during COVID when I wasn't able to help him bring his meal inside and had to place in the box by his door, we had a routine. He would always say thank you and would wait for me to get to the end of the hall and I would turn around and we would wave to each other. I find myself still turning around looking for his wave. It is a very fond memory and it will stick with me.
It is also truly a pleasure to read such a lovely tribute to his life in the words listed here. 'Our joys will be greater, our love will be deeper, our life will be fuller because we shared your moment.'
Many thoughts and prayers,
Emily

My sympathies to those who knew and loved James (Jim). I knew him only briefly from delivering meals this past year. From just a few minutes together once a week I was able to tell that he was a very special human and a kind soul. I will remember him foldly.
I'm so greatful to read more about his story through the write up on his life, and to see his picture in younger times.
"Every experience in life, everything with which we have come in contact in life, is a chisel which has been cutting away at our life statue, molding, modifying, shaping it. We are part of all we have met." - Orrison Swett Marden
So true. Thank you James for the gift of being in my life for a short time and leaving an enduring smile.

Dear Janet and Mary Jane. Harvey and I were sorry to read about Jimmy’s passing. We have a fond memory of running into him while on a summer visit to Fredericton in the early 1990’s. We met by chance near the legislature, and after going for a walk with him, and having a coffee, he insisted that we join him and his mother for supper. I’m so glad we had that opportunity to reconnect.
I also treasure the times spent playing and visiting “the Goldings” while growing up on Hawthorne Ave. They were golden times. Jimmy was a special soul.

Dear Janet, Jimmy was a “regular” at Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton for many years. He was always cheerful and could often be seen taking long walks around the city. I remember also his days in the Saint John High School band where he played trombone. I am so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely, Marilyn ( Yeomans) Lewell

I was one of Mr. Goldings caregivers. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to have met Jim and to have gotten to know him a some. He was definitely one of a kind. Jim truly seemed to enjoy our visits. No matter what kind of a day Jim was having he always was so polite asking me to come on in and have a seat. I will definitely miss that cheeky smile peaking at me from around the door. Janet, Mary Jane & family, I am so very sorry for your tragic loss. This certainly was sudden and very unexpected. I want you to know that I am here for you if there is ANYTHING at all that I can do please don't hesitate to reach out. When arrangements are made I would love the opportunity to pay my respect to Mr. Golding if that is possible. I hope you can find some peace and comfort in knowing that Jim is no longer suffering and he is now at peace. Hugs, love, prayers & blessing to you and your family.
