Obituary of Mary Ann Danahy
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ann Beatrice Danahy, age 84, on October 3, 2021, in the Palliative Care Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Danahy and the late Roseline (Daigle) Chiswell.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her daughter Tara and granddaughter Morgana. Mary Ann enjoyed life and lived it to the full. She appreciated the many friends she made at Father Eugene O’Leary’s Senior Complex, Time Hortons, and the Thirty Up Club. She loved to dance, play music and cards. She will be sadly missed and remembered by her family and friends, and those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter Tara Danahy; granddaughter, Morgana Sharpe; and her sister, Helen Danahy, SC of Halifax; her brother-in-law, Douglas Damon of Saint John; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Danahy, mother, Roseline (Danahy) Chiswell, stepfather, Al Chiswell, her sisters Theresa Damon and Catherine Vanhorn, and nephew David Tomas.
Under the direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), cremation has taken place. A private special interment of ashes service, in the presence of family members, will take place at the burial site in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Latimore Lake, Saint John, NB.
Mary Ann loved animals. For those who wish, a donation may be made to Saint John SPCA.
