Roseline and I were saddened to hear of Uncle Gord’s passing. His was truly an example of a life well lived, and, as my Salvation Army friends say we will celebrate his life, confident that he has been “promoted to glory”. The attached photo was taken around 1944 and is of Uncle Gord, Dad (Bob), and Pop (William) when Uncle Gord was home visiting from university.

I met Gordon through my work at Mount Allison and visited with him in his home in 2019. It was a highlight hearing his stories of crossing from Newfoundland during the War and the time he spent in Sackville during those years. That visit will always remain a favorite for me. My sincere condolences on the loss of a wonderful man.

My condolences to you, Gordon and to all your family. However I know memories of your Dad, his business acumen, his humour and his love of community, whether it be the world of sport or the church, will ease your sorrow at his loss. According to my Dictionary of Newfoundland English, ‘by the living man’…was a familiar expletive of a local priest. Your Dad was sure a ‘livin’ man’!

I am saddened by the news of Gordon’s passing. My friendship with Gordon spanned more than fifty-six years and that friendship remains one of the great privileges of my life. The crucible of our friendship was forged in 1965 when Gordon and a number of mutual friends played a pivotal role in establishing a Learn-to-Sail program at the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club. That program has continued uninterrupted from 1964 to the present. Gordon will be remembered as an individual who celebrated life and friendship. He knew how to accomplish amazing things. Gordon’s many contributions have provided significant community legacies for Saint John.
Louise and I extend to Gordon, Debbie, Bill and Anne and all of Gordon’s extended family our heartfelt condolences.

Gord - currently out of the country but reading today's T-J I was very saddened to read of your dad's passing. As a shipping agent I came in contact with Gordon on many occasions when he was manager of the Saint John Port Authority. Also enjoyed the occasional game of golf with him at Riverside. His many contributions to society speak for themselves and you must be very proud of his accomplishments. My sincere condolences.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of one of the most important persons in our community and Saint John Port’s history. Gordon was a key leader in laying the foundation for other leaders to continue the development of our Port and community. A gentleman at all times, setting an example for those of us who were so privileged to follow in his footsteps in advancing our Port and community. I will NEVER forget his generosity in sharing his experience with me during my time as Port Saint John’s CEO….. he was my “go to guy” for advice and better understanding of our Port’s history and understanding of our Port’s evolution. I will deeply miss his friendship, advice, good humour and sharing of the occasional hot chocolate and lunches with the “wharf rats”… my sincere condolences to Gord Jr. and the entire Mouland family… Gordon was respected by all and will be deeply missed!
