Macgregor, Andrew, Michael and Norah, I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s death. My condolences to you and the Grant clan. I watched the service and I see Rory at the joint family Christmas parties our families had when we were children, at church picnics on the Rothesay Commons, in his kilt at the Rothesay Highland Games and driving around in his black VW with the roof down. I loved the story about Rory eating the chocolates as a child. When Mum was at Shannex, I saw him on a regular basis always with a smile and willing to stop and chat. He was larger than life. I know he felt the winds of God in his sails as he set out to sea.

My deepest sympathy to all of the family at this difficult time. Rory was a true legend. I’ll always remember him showing up at the office in a tweed blazer and looking over the mail received that day long after his retirement. I would eagerly wait in my office upstairs knowing he would make his way up to say hello to everyone. His firm handshake and kind eyes made me feel valued not just as an employee of Hope Grant but as a person. He will forever be one of my fondest memories of working in the Insurance industry and I am so blessed to have known him.

Jim and I were greatly saddened to learn of Rory's passing. He was a wonderful human being - so multi-talented, kind and selfless. He was a true pillar of both the Saint John and Rothesay communities and of St. Paul's Church. Rory was particularly thoughtful to my own parents in their old age, for which I will always be grateful. He and Olga were lovely, hospitable neighbours to my parents and continued to show their kindness to my husband and me when we moved to Saint John in retirement. We send our most heartfelt condolences to the entire Grant family.

Thank you, Grant Family, for making it possible for us to join your Dad and Grandfather's funeral today via streaming video. Mother and I said all the prayers with you, and sang all the wonderful hymns along with you.
It was a lovely service. Andrew and Jamie, you spoke and read so well. Rachael your singing was beautiful.
We met Mr. Grant as students at RCS-Netherwood / RNS, while Mom met him during her time as the coordinator at Meals on Wheels. He was an amazing reliable volunteer driving the meals to their destinations and always found time to talk with the clients and other volunteers.
At my graduation he presented me with the Patty McAvity Award. Soon after I was told that I must call him 'Rory' and not Mr Grant. We loved seeing Rory at school and alumni events - he always had great stories from RCS days, introduced us to many people and always had something witty to say keeping us in gales of laughter.
Daddy and I were so pleased to see Rory named an official founder of the school in 2017. This was the last time I saw Mr. and Mrs. Grant. It was a very proud moment.
Sending Macgregor, Nora, Andrew, Michael and James, Rachael and Hazen Grant along with their extended families our love, strength and prayers. You had amazing parents/grandparents!! We miss them.

McGegor and Valerie, Andrew, Michael, Norah and families, I am indeed saddened at the news of Rory's passing. My condolences on your loss. Rory and Olga certainly were a great couple and full of joie de vivre! I have many cherished memories of them and their happy outlook on their family. Sailing tops the list with their cruise through the Bahamas with me some years ago, as well as being regaled by stories about coin and note collections. Rory's athletic prowess was and is an inspiration to younger generations, yet he was humble about these achievements. May your memories of your Mum and Dad bring smiles, even in these moments of sadness.

McGregor, Andrew, Michael and Norah I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I have such fond memories of him and your mom when I think about growing up in Rothesay. I’ll never forget the weeks in the spring when we would go down to the Gannet after school and pump her out until the hull tightened up. I learned so much from your dad about boating and seamanship and respect such as how to properly row the RYC tender and ship the oars so I wouldn’t scratch peoples boats. Those little things that really make a difference. I think that my love for boating and cruising came from seeing your family out on the water every summer.
Again, so sorry for your loss and prayers for the family.

I loved Uncle Rory from the time we met at our wedding 25 years ago in Seattle, WA, USA when he and his brother Charlie showed up in kilts and danced the night away. I was also fortunate to attend his 80th birthday party at New River Beach in New Brunswick along with my husband Nat and our 2 boys and it was such a joy to see him surrounded by so many loving family members, including many grandchildren, who prepared skits and songs in his honor. I saw him again at a soiree for his brother-in-law (my father-in-law, Bill Brace) in Concord, MA as well as at Bill's memorial service several years later. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes and was so easy to connect with. He was definitely a special person with a strong presence. Much love and condolences to his entire family. Our condolences to MacGregor and the Grant family. I have known Rory for 60 years from his insurance business and as a fellow member of the RYC. I remember chatting with him at their premises on King Street where he had an interesting display of old Scottish banknotes. He had a life long enthusiasm for whatever he was involved in. The annual springtime ritual of getting the Gannet ready for launching prompted the comment, “I hope Rory can get the boat in before the haulout”. I doubt he ever missed a Remembrance Day observance no matter the weather. Rory leaves a living legacy in his children and their families that will endure far into the future.
