Dear Steven, Caroline, Shannon, and Hayley and families,
I enjoyed a regular email correspondence with Uncle Phil throughout the last 13 years. It started as I started to fundraise for ALS. As mentioned he was always generous and supported me in this endeavor each time that I asked.
Growing up, I always felt close to Uncle Phil as we both were active in sports and later as we both shared the common interest of the Kinsman organization.
I think that during the last few years, we shared a mutual admiration for how we lived life as fully as we could with chronic incurable illnesses.
I will miss his humor, live life to the fullest attitude and his generosity.
Condolences to his family and to the Anderson family.
Jeff Sutherland, and family (cousin)

It is with great respect that I post this memory of Phil. He was a gentleman, a kind and caring individual who had great capacity for listening and fairness. He loved a good joke, a glass of wine and delighted in dipping into the stories of others and the telling of his own .In Light and Love I send my condolances to his family and friends and wish him a sweet journey to the other side of wisdom and knowing. Sending gratitude that our paths crossed and that I had the privilege of meeting him on my journey of life.

My first meeting with Phil was the day he came into the accounting office for his first day as a student.
There are many mentions about the qualities of this exceptional man, All of them are true, but there was absolutely no way to do Phil justice with words.
He was, as the expression says, "One in a million".
It has been an honor and a privilege to be able to say he was a friend and a colleague.
My condolences to the family,
Don Mills

I have been thinking all week on how I would respond to this awful news..First I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. He was such a terrific person. Kind, sincere, funny, smart , generous just to name a few of his qualities. The Jones family welcomed my mother (Florence) my sister Laurie and I into the family all those years ago and we will be forever grateful. Grateful for knowing Phil and being a part of the family...Losing Ed was devastating and this news is just as devastating .RIP Phil..I hope you are having a good game of chess with Ed...Emily Arsenault

Words cannot express how sad I was to hear of Phil's passing over the weekend. I worked for Phil prior to his retirement at Simms for many years. The man of "two hats" Danny and I always called him....business as usual from 9-5 and after that, he was that fun loving, always smiling, wonderful man who could light up a room with his smile and laugh. I have many, many fond memories of Phil , at work, luncheons, and many gatherings at Mark & Kim's along with a lot of his family, friends and extended family. He was always so kind, and had such a positive outlook on life. My sincere condolences to his family, extended family, his many, many best friends. Rest in peace, Phil. Nancy & Danny Splane

I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing, having fond memories of our many excursions camping around the Maritimes and the Sate of Maine. He spent many hours trying to teach me Chees and Judo and of course his Mathematical tricks, this Genius of a man. My father worshipped Phil, they had a special relationship, one of Dads last requests ws to make sure Phil was one of his pallbearers.
Again I send my sincere condolences.
