Obituary of David Ronald Durley
It is with broken hearts that the family of David Ronald Durley, beloved husband of 58 years to Ruth (Munro) Durley, announces his unexpected passing on March 27, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 11, 1941, he was the son of the late James and Myrtle (McKenzie) Durley.
David had a special bond with his sister Ida who made sure he made all his appointments and would always keep him in line at the card table. He retired from the Saint John Regional Hospital and the old General Hospital after 36 years as an orderly. David in his younger years enjoyed playing soccer, softball as a pitcher (one of the last players in the area pitching without a glove), coaching little league baseball, and bowling.
David is survived by his wife Ruth; sons: David (Jacqueline) Durley, and Mark (Donna) Durley; grandsons: Joshua (Tiffany) Durley, Jeffrey Durley, Zachary Durley, and Benjamin Durley; great-grandsons: Everett Durley, and Lennon Durley; sisters: Theresa Durley, and Ida Mosher; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his bothers Harold, Gerald, and Donald; and sisters: Marie, and Patricia.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM in St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in David’s memory can be made to St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church and online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
