Obituary of Junior Doucette
DOUCETTE: Wilfred Joseph “Junior”
Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Sunday, March 27th, 2022, Wilfred Joseph “Junior” Doucette passed away in his 69th year. Born in Saint John, Junior was the son of the late Wilfred and Roseanne Doucette (nee Robichaud).
Junior will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend of 49 years, Dale Doucette (nee Landry). Dear father of Jeff Doucette (Trinda Short), Natasha Doucette (Andrew Surette), and Wilfred Doucette Jr.. Cherished grandfather of Nicolas Doucette, Jason “JP” Briggs, Molly Briggs, Lincoln Short, and Colt Short.
He is survived by his brother Firmin Doucette, sister O’Dell Doucette, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Junior was predeceased by his brothers Reuben and Rene Doucette (Linda).
Junior loved the outdoors, whether scouting in the woods or fishing; this was a passion he shared with his friends, children, and most especially his son-in-law Jason Briggs. Junior was never one to sit idle. Through the years he worked for the City of Saint John, Longshore, and Debly Enterprises as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. After facing a work-related accident, he continued to help whenever and wherever he could, including lending his niece a hand with yard work.
The love Junior exuded for his children was evident as he cheered on Jeff and Junior at baseball games (even umpiring a few) or headed out to test his luck with “bingo buddy” Natasha. His pride and joy swelled even more with the arrival of the grandkids.
Although this loss seems final, we can’t help but picture Junior heading off on another long bike ride, packed lunch in hand, dreaming and scheming for his next big trout catch.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at Brenan’s Funeral Home (634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, on Monday, April 4th, 2022, at 11:30am. A reception will follow. Those planning to attend the Graveside Service are asked to gather at the Funeral Home beginning at 11am, after which we will process together to the Cemetery.
Donations in Junior’s memory to the Centennial or Princess Elizabeth School Breakfast programs would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.BrenansFH.com.
