So very sad to say goodbye to Olive. Although we didn’t see each other in person for many years, we were always close. She and her brother and sisters (Edie, John and Betty) were more like my siblings. We lived next door to each other in Bornova and had a wonderful childhood. Olive tormented John (stones in the shoes as forfeit for some long forgotten misdemeanour), John tormented me as I was next in the pecking order!
Bridge, Chinese whist, Scrabble - all our family remember Olive playing - and winning - these. She always had a better more high scoring word at Scrabble. And tennis. Olive and Wimbledon went together in our household. She always visited and stayed with us in The New Forest in June.
We shall miss her sharp mind and vibrant presence so very much. But we shall never forget her. X

Sadly the last of the siblings has now gone and with her many of the family stories we so enjoyed hearing and were so much part of our growing up.We always looked forward to Olive's visits as children. She was the fun and adventurous aunt arriving from exotic locations who always had a mischievous twinkle and sense of fun.
All four siblings remained close throughout their lives in spite of rarely living in the same country together.Their bond stayed very strong stemming from their happy and idyllic childhood.
What a long life and mentally sharp to the end. She broke the family record at almost 103.
We are so pleased we got to spend some precious time with her on our last visit. The same Olive as ever.
Rest in peace.
Much love,
Carolyn and Jenny

We were sorry to hear of Olive's passing. Olive was a fierce competitor at the bridge table. She bid aggressively and played very well. Our sympathies to her family. She will be missed by her bridge friends.

I first became acquainted with Olive soon after she moved to Saint John through our son Mark, who was later married to her Grand-daughter Fran.
Often on Olive's Sunday morning walks she would pop in to our home for a coffee and a chat, before walking home, but she always refused a drive home, preferring the fresh air and exercise.
Occasionally at her request I would drive her to a store but as soon as she got through the door, she would be off like a shot and I wouldn't see her again until she was ready to leave.
Olive was a special friend and I'm sure she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
RIP Olive.

Scott, Sue and all of Olive's family.
Olive, I have so many memories of you, meeting you and watching you play bridge. I think I may have found your secret of 3nt! The drives home from bridge late Tuesday night and hearing the glee in your voice when you were telling me about how you defeated someone that game. Your sad loss of your youngest 'boy' Jim was hard and the you moved to the Nursing home and I moved too.
I was not far and planned to pop in and say hi , but covid hit and no visits. Finally we could have them through the screen and both enjoyed those few visits. You would continue to call me and say, "I know you can't hear me " " but you would give me all your news. I enjoyed those calls and still have one of your voice messages on my phone.
I hope you got some joy from my notes that the staff could pass on to you.
Now you have gone to join those members of family who have gone before and will rest easy. I will always think of you , especially when at a bridge table. Fondly Muriel

Scott and Family: So very sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. I was envious of her accomplishments in her later years (sky diving etc.). My deepest condolences and you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
