Obituary of George Rutheford Morton
The death of George Morton of Saint John, beloved husband of Mary "Peggy" (Wills) Morton occurred on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born on October 25, 1925 in Cody’s, NB, he was the son of the late Trueman and Jennie (Morton) Madsen. Prior to his retirement, George was employed at the Sugar Refinery. Dad loved hunting, sports and was a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan. In addition to his wife of 67 years, Peggy, George is also survived by their children, Debby Burns (Larry) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Frederick Morton (Kathy) of Saint John, Helen Morton (the late Stephen B.) of Saint John, Stephen Morton (Diane) of Saint John, Isabel Haché (Tony) of British Columbia and Joseph Morton (Jean) of Michigan; grandchildren, Belinda Sproul, Scott Burns, Mike Burns, Kiel Morton, Toni Campbell, Lisa Morton, Meghan Morton, Rick Martin and Melissa Martin; as well as several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Audrey Jean Petland and Laurie Wills as well as brother-in-law, Merle Wright. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM and Friday, March 3, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
