Obituary of Karen Alice MacFarland
It is with great sadness that the family of Karen MacFarland of Clifton Royal, cherished wife of Les MacFarland announces her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 17, 1955 in Woodstock, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Marguerite Tompkins. Karen always held a special place in her heart for all animals. She enjoyed watching basketball and treasured the times spent with those she loved. In addition to her husband, Les, Karen is also survived by their children, Dianne Walton DesRosiers (David) of Ontario, April Miller (Grant) of Summerville and Benita MacFarland of Saint John; sisters, Irma Underhill (Darryl) of Bristol, New Brunswick and Letha Burlock (Bob) of Woodstock; six special grandchildren; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. As per Karen’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. A private interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Whitehead. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.
