Obituary of Georgia Margaret Jane McKay
The death of Miss Georgia Margaret Jane McKay of 23 Celebration St., Saint John, NB, occurred on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, Miss McKay was the daughter of the late George H. and Evangeline (Floyd) McKay. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, she taught in Hartland, NB and the Saint John schools of Winter Street and Princess Elizabeth until retirement in 1966. Following a year of study in Chicago at Moody Bible Institute, Miss McKay became the Children's Corner Voice of the Family Altar Hour carried by CHSJ in the 1940's and 50's. She was a lifetime member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, having served in the Women's Missionary Society and as a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. Surviving are her sisters Ruby (Mrs. Alfred E. Shuve) and Audrey (Mrs. Mark P. Corkum) both of Saint John, NB and Helena (Mrs. Roger Hill) of Lewiston, Maine as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters; Florence (Mrs. George Campbell), Evangeline (Mrs. A. G. Crowe) and Marjorie (Mrs. Chas Huppe) and her brother Mr. Lloyd McKay. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visitation on Monday only from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with interment in Brown's Cemetery at Bain's Corner, NB. Remembrances may be made to the Tabernacle United Baptist Church or a charity of the donors' choice.
