Obituary of Florence E. Pitt
The death of William Russell Pitt, of Ridgewood Veterans Wing, husband of the late Florence E. (Long) Pitt, occurred on Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at his residence. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Douglas B. and Laura (Capen) Pitt. Mr. Pitt was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas in England, Holland and France, with the Royal Scottish Regiment and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He worked for Dominion Store's for over 35 years, retiring as Produce Manager. Russell enjoyed camping, playing cards and darts and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by three sons, William Brian Pitt (Susan), Russell David Pitt (Heather), both of Saint John and Richard Kevin Pitt (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, one daughter, Suzanne Irene Ferguson of Saint John, six grandchildren, Lori Lee, Jennifer Susan, William Jacob, Kimberly Suzanne, Mark Timothy Donald and Nickolas Russell, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson, Ryan Matthew Ferguson and one brother, Ronald Pitt. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Midland Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a veteran service on Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. www.brenansfh.com
