Obituary of Nora Charity Spooner Burnett
The death of Mrs. Nora Charity Spooner (Lyon) Burnett of Rothesay, NB, wife of the late Gordon M. Burnett, occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2003, at her residence. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Doris (Spooner) Lyon. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Burnett was a secretary for the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Nora was a lifelong resident of East Riverside. She was Anglican by faith and was a former member of the ACW and the Altar Guild of St. James the Less Church, member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rothesay and was the former treasurer of the Kennebecasis Division of the Girl Guides of Canada. She is survived by one son, Gordon and his wife Mary, one daughter, Noreen Gilliland and her husband Ross, one sister Meredith Lyon, four grandchildren, Benjamin, Laura, Kelvin and Brian, all of Rothesay, one aunt, Ida Bateman of New Glasgow, NS and several cousins. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rothesay, on Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Extra Mural Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
