My most sincere condolences to Lois and entire family for Gerry’s passing, way too soon. I have known Gerry since 1993, and we sailed together as "Plank Owners" of HMCS Fredericton, and continued to see each other many years later. Gerry was an outstanding shipmate and a great friend. We played guitar together many times, notably in Bermuda and Baltimore while on RCN deployment. He helped me a lot in my formative years in the Navy and I will never forget it. He cared about his people, at home and within his Navy family. Glad I got to reconnect with him during FREDERICTON"s 25th anniversary of Commissioning in 2019. I will miss him a lot. GO HABS!

I had the privilege of being Gerry’s Cox’n onboard HMCS Fredericton and to me and to many others Gerry was the epitome of what a shipmate should be. I cannot ever recall Gerry being in a negative mood and whatever was best for the ship he was fully onboard with. To see Gerry again on the 25th anniversary was one of the best moments on that special day. Same old smile, same old Gerry.
Rest easy my friend, my shipmate. We shall raise a glass to your memory the next time the best ships company ever gathers round again. You shall not be forgotten.
My deepest condolences to your beautiful family
Yours Aye

So very sad to hear of Gerry’s passing this morning. I worked closely with Gerry onboard HMCS FREDERICTON we were part of her first crew. It was great seeing Gerry at FREDERICTON’s 25th Anniversary just a few years ago and I made sure that I got a photo or two taken with him. We both did the same job in our second Career as Police Dispatchers. Gerry was always a gentleman and was the easiest guy in the world to get along with. I met so many fine people in the Navy from all over Canada, Gerry was amongst the best of them. RIP Gerry.

My deepest condolences go out to Gerry's family at their loss of a beautiful man...a husband, father and grandfather. I had the great honour of meeting and serving with Gerry onboard HMCS FREDERICTON for two years. In that time, Gerry was the epitome of a hard working, dedicated, reliable, trustworthy and friendly Canadian sailor. I have very fond memories of Gerry, especially his surprise promotion to Petty Officer First Class along with Al Park's promotion to CPO2 - fun times.
Rest in Peace Gerry, your life on earth mattered.

So sad to hear of Gerry’s passing; Gerry was a great guy, phenomenal Petty Officer with a wickedly dry sense of humour, and a deep dedication to his people. I am so glad we, and the other members of Freddie, had the opportunity to rehash memories at the 25th anniversary.
Fair winds, Gerry, you earned them.
