Obituary of Doug McKinney
The family of Douglas McKinney of Lower Greenwich are deeply saddened to announce his unexpected passing, which occurred on Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home. Born on December 21, 1946, he was the only child of the late Kenneth Arthur and Helen Mary (Machum) McKinney.
Doug was employed as a truck driver. This was a career he truly enjoyed and where he got to visit new places and meet new people everyday. He always took great comfort in his back road drives where he could explore the beauty of nature. Doug anticipated going into the city to attend church services and his AA and Celebrate Recovery meetings. Doug was a man of faith and reading his Bible brought him much peace. He enjoyed music and was famous for his dance moves. Most of all, Doug looked forward to spending time with his family and friends…creating great memories and simply enjoying each other's company.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his children, Darlene McKinney of Saint John and Dallas McKinney (Rebecca) of Lower Greenwich; precious grandchildren, Connor McKinney, Jessie McKinney, Brittany McKinney, Isaiah McKinney and Josiah McKinney; step-grandchildren, Carissa Bishop, Stephen Bishop (Shannon), Hannah Bishop and Mark Bishop; step-great-grandchildren, Bodhi and Kaius Birch; as well as numerous cousins.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will take place from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Celebrate Recovery c/o Kings Church, Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
