Obituary of Dorothy Viola Martin
It is with immense sadness that the family of Dorothy Viola Martin announces her passing on August 3, 2022, at the Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the wife of the late Arthur Martin, the daughter of Charles Harvey and Lottie (Dobson) Harvey.
Dorothy worked at Dan’s Restaurant on Waterloo Street and cleaned various homes around the city. She loved to watch game shows, wrestling, boxing, and golf. Tiger Woods was her preferred player. Search puzzles, games, and eating candy were her favorite pastimes. She may have been tiny in stature, but her feistiness made her a force to be reckoned with. She was very involved with her extended family which was her pride and joy. Five generations of descendants is the legacy she leaves behind.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Wayne (Dayle) Martin; brothers: John (Margaret) Harvey, Edward (Linda) Harvey, and Charles F. Harvey; sisters: Martha (Bill) Peacock, Maria Harvey, and Margaret (Ken) Sparks.
She is survived by her sisters: Lottie (Paul) Parker and Joanne (Jim) Murphy; her children: Nancy Wilson, Barb (Richard) Wilson, and Bonnie (Don) Robichaud; her grandchildren: Connie (Brian), Holly, Donna (Kim), Greg (Gina), Kenny, Larry (Julia), Patsy (Ellis), Sharon (Delbert), Ricky (Jennifer), Jason (Linda), Finn (Crystal), Charity, Hope (Shawn), Steven (Melinda), Jeffery (Nicole), Rachel (Shawn), Sean (Rachel), Troy, and Natasha. She is also survived by 38 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and honorary family members, Wayne Cosman and Dianne Byers.
Special thank you to Rocmaura Nursing Home- from the administration, nursing staff, cleaners, laundry, cooks, and the maintenance man who danced with her in the halls, the other residents and their families, for making her a part of your family. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. “When you can be anything in the world, be kind.” You embrace this to new heights.
