Obituary of Alice Margaret Harris
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Alice Margaret (Melanson) Harris, wife of the late Ross Harris, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her residence in Shannex’s Embassy Hall. Born June 12, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Christiansen) Melanson.
Alice worked at the York Cotton Mill and Lantic Sugar Refinery, before moving to Brantford, ON, to work as a supervisor for TexPac. She loved dancing, karaoke, and white russians, and belonged to the senior’s club during the years that she lived in the Brunswick Drive highrise. She also made incredible banana bread.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Wayne (Marie) and Gary (Nancy); step-son, Ronald “Buddy” Dunham; step-daughters, June Goddard (Alan) and Joan McLong (the late Carl); grandchildren: Dawn Freer (Shawn), Natalie, Randy Russell (Jeannie), and Jeremy Russell (Carrie); great-grandchildren: Brandon, Makayla, Josh, Keelan, Anna, and Evan; brother, Thomas Melanson (Liz); step-brother, John “Jackie” (Dallas); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her husband, Ross, and her parents, Alice was predeceased by her sister, Theresa; and brothers: Donald (Jen), Henry (Esther), Francis (Nan), and Leo “Jiggs”.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Alice’s wishes, interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Spring. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.BrenansFH.com
