Fortune, Stephen Douglas
Stephen Douglas Fortune, of Bains Corner, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 2nd, 2022. Born in Saint John on August 8th, 1951, he was the son of the late Walter and Sadie Fortune (nee Gibb). Beloved husband of Joan Fortune (nee Hunter).
Stephen is survived by his children Serena Lingley (Warren), Colin Fortune (Lori), and Athena Friars. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Alexander Fortune (Kalysa), Brayden Friars, Anne (Kory), Joey, Elizabeth, and Grace, as well as by his great grandchildren Kaysen, Christopher, and Aurora. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Survived by his sister Inez Hunter.
Besides his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his brothers Stanley and George Fortune.
Through the years, Stephen worked for both St. John Ironworks and Thomas Construction. He was renowned as the “Neighbourhood Fix-It,” with a passion for family, friends, and his four-legged companion Piper.
The family wishes to thank our neighbours for the love, care, and concern shown throughout Stephen’s time in hospital.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Bains Corner United Church on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, at 11am. Arrangements entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home (634-7424).
