Obituary of Harold Ernest Maher
Maher, Harold Ernest
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold E. Maher announces his passing, which occurred in Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Born in Saint John, NB on February 18, 1942, he was a son of the late Laura Kingston and her husband, Charles Howe.
Harold joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1967 and retired in 1990 with the rank of Warrant Officer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his brothers-in-law. He also loved watching his grandchildren play baseball, hockey, and football.
Harold leaves behind his two daughters, Donna Griffin (Andrew) and Linda Yasinki (Lee); his grandchildren, Jacob (Allison), Jonathan (Jaydee), Jordan (Reaghan), Tyler, Nicholas, and William. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Olivia (McNally) Maher, and his brother, Gordon Maher.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Interment will take place on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 2:00 PM in Fernhill Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will take place from Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58 (61 Marr Road, Rothesay). Donations in memory of Harold may be made to Cystic Fibrosis of Canada.
