Obituary of Barbara Pearl Black
The family of Barbara Pearl Black wish to announce her passing on February 7th, 2023 at the Fundy Nursing Home in Blacks Harbour. Born June 22, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Lucy (Patterson) McVicar. She was predeceased by her husband Allan Black in 1980.
Barbara is survived by her siblings Donna Clark, Roberta Mersereau, R. Joseph McVicar (Phyllis Cusack), Clara (Aubrey Jr.) Leslie, Thelma (Paul) Lomax and Lynda Lomax, and sister-in-law Connie McVicar. Predeceased by brothers Gerald, Robert in infancy and James, and sister Martha Morecraft, brothers-in-law Ellison Clark, Earl Mersereau and Calvin Morecraft and sister-in-law Wanda McVicar.
Barbara spent most of her adult life in Saint John, graduating from Modern Business College in 1962. She worked at Saint John City Hall, Rocca Construction, Maxim Construction, and Pictures Plus. She loved the city and made many friends with her fun-loving, outgoing spirit. She will be dearly remembered by all those who knew her well and loved her so, especially by her family.
The family would like to express our appreciation to all those at Fundy Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received while there. You people truly are a blessing.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 11th, at 1:00 PM at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be a private interment in the spring at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
