Obituary of Valerie Jean Gallant
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Valerie Jean (Ricketts) Gallant announce her peaceful passing which occurred at Spring Valley Care Home in Kelowna, BC on April 20, 2023. Valerie was born in Saint John, NB, daughter of the late Allen G. and H. Irene (Verner) Ricketts.
Valerie graduated in 1983 from BCIT as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Burnaby Hospital in the ER and worked with the IV therapist team. She also worked and owned We Care in Vernon BC.
Valerie was a kind, gentle and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Valerie leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Don, son Troy, daughter Michelle (Levan), her grandchildren Tianna and Bryce, her sisters, Brenda (Brian), Dawn (Pat) and Maxine. She also leaves behind her sister-in-laws Jocelyn (Albert) and Paulette, an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Terry, and a sister, Linda.
She was a dedicated member of the Port Moody Legion Branch 119 and held the chairperson position for the Ways and Means. She enjoyed playing crib and horseshoes at the legion with friends and especially loved to Jive dance with her husband – and it didn’t matter where she was, she would find room to dance! She also enjoyed spending time at her cabin, snowmobiling, riding the ATV, reading, watching the bird feeders and doing crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed sitting in the boat while Don fished.
Special thank you to ALL the staff at Spring Valley Care Home for your kindness, warm hearts and for supporting our family
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick, 300 Maples Street, Fredericton, NB, E3A 3R4.
