“A CHERISHED MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER YOU ARE AND WILL FOREVER BE, YOU LOVED US THROUGHOUT A LIFETIME AND WE WILL LOVE YOU THROUGHOUT ETERNITY”
With saddened hearts and surrounded by her loving family at home we announce the passing of our beautiful Mom Georgie (Friars) Stein who went to join her beautiful Angels in Heaven whom she missed so very much on May 20th, 2023 at the age of 81. She was one of two children, and the daughter of the late Melvina (Dobson) Friars and the late Pete Friars. Mom was born in Saint John on December 3, 1941
She is survived by her children,Cathy (Leo) Chevarie, Brian (Andrea) Stein; grandchildren, Amanda, Michelle, Kelly, Nick (Abbi) and great-granddaughter Lily. Daughter in law Brenda Stein and fury friend Coco; many nieces and nephews and cousins, Jean, Audrey, Margaret, Bill, Mary, Bob, Wayne, Donna, and Carol; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many friends that were like family.
Mom was predeceased by her mom Melvina, her dad Pete, and stepdad Garfield, also the love of her life her husband Don and beautiful daughter Debbie, son Donnie and sister Iona Smith. Mom also lost the second love of her life Cecil Nason, survived by his family, Al (Crystal), Wendy (Lee), Paul (Darlene), Mark (Sandra) Connie (Billy Joe) and his wonderful family.
Mom had many careers in her lifetime and loved them all, she worked at McMillan press for years where she met Dad and they raised four children together. She worked at Dairy Queen for a while, we always had lots of Ice Cream on hand, but Mom’s best career choice was as a Stay at Home Mom and we loved her being there when we got home, we were so appreciative that she made that decision, it was really wonderful having her there when we got home.
Mom loved to cook, and garden and sewing was her passion, she could fix anything, she spent hours at that sewing machine, she also loved to knit. She so missed all of that when her eyesight started to deteriorate, which was very difficult for her.
She loved to take trips, her and Dad crossed Canada, her and Cecil went on a lifetime Road Trip to Alaska, she also loved the trips she took with us kids, Florida, Bangor, Niagara Falls, P.E. I. New Hampshire and many camping trips, she loved being on the road. In Mom’s early years she absolutely loved yard sales, her and Nan would be gone for hours going from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and house to house, and she always came home with so many treasures, her and Nan had so many trips to Bangor the car could find its own way there.
Mom is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row with visitation on Thursday May 25, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8, with the funeral to be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel, interment will take place immediately following at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. “ALWAYS LOVED, FOREVER MISSED, NEVER FORGOTTEN “
RIP OUR SWEET MOM
“MY MOTHER, MY ANGEL”
Once upon a time an angel held my hand.
She wiped away my tears and helped me understand
Our time on Earth is brief; there are lessons to be learned.
Each precious day God gives us, another page is turned.
Every chapter full of memories, times of joy and tears,
Triumphs and defeats, through every passing year.
She loved us unconditionally, always by our side.
When no one else would listen, in her we could confide.
With gentle words of wisdom, she led us on our way,
Down the paths of righteousness if ever we did stray.
She saw the light in everyone and gave with no regrets,
Always from her heart, let's not forget.
Angels come in many forms; for me it was my mother.
With love I cannot say in words there'll never be another.
Every day I turn the page, in my heart will ever remain
Everything she taught me as I stroll down memory lane.
Thank you, God, for giving me the most priceless of all treasures.
Help my, Lord, to keep alive her memory here forever.
I pray that I can someday be everything she hoped I would,
That she's smiling down from heaven knowing she did good.
As we gather here today, there's no ending to her story.
Another chapter has begun, full of grace and glory.
God's called her to his heavenly home, part of his great plan.
Although it may be hard, we all must understand.
Faith is what is hoped for, things we cannot see.
Heaven is promised to all of us if only we believe
RIP Mom until we meet again.
