Obituary of Audrey Jean Shillington
With great sadness, the family of Audrey Shillington, loving wife of the late John Frederick Shillington, announces her passing which occurred at home, surrounded by her loving family on July 25th. Born on July 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Thelma (White) Henderson.
Audrey will live on in the hearts of her sons Bruce (Shelley), Doug (Michelle) and daughter Wendy (Stephen), and her grandchildren Lacey, Johnny, Jake, Bryce, and Sophie, step-grandchildren Ian Watson (Naomi), Ben Watson (Nicole), Ashley Cabel (Stephen), Jordan Morton as well as seven step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including her favourites David Henderson and Cathy Richards. Audrey lost her eldest daughter Debbie Shillington to cancer as a teenager in 1975. She was also predeceased by step-grandson Justin Morton. Audrey was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses; her sister Elsie Henderson (Ronald) and her brother Joe (Betty) Henderson. She was also predeceased by her in-laws Rita Moore (John), Grace Forster (Doug), and Tom Shillington (Lois) as well as nephews Barry Forster, Donnie Forster, and Tim Moore.
Audrey worked briefly at Major Foods and Zellers before going to Canadian Tire for 29 years where she was well known for her delicious homemade fudge. She was a member of the UCW of Silver Falls United Church and volunteered at the Loch Lomond Villa, Meals on Wheels, and the Beavers Troop at church.
Audrey lived the majority of her life in Silver Falls but never forgot that she came from Henderson Settlement, where our family has enjoyed many wonderful times over the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will take place at Harmony United Church, 8 Upland Rd, Saint John on Friday, July 28, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the SPCA or Harmony United Church of Canada.
