Obituary of David Joseph Cunningham
We are saddened to inform you that David Joseph Cunningham passed away on November 11th, 2023. He was born on August 17th, 1945, in Saint John, and was the son of the late Edward and Anna (nee Weaver) Cunningham. David was a beloved father of Shane (Gail) Cunningham, Tara (Rick) Jackson, and Tanya (Jamie) Jackson, and his grandchildren Samantha, Jill (Mitchell), Timothy, Brady, and great-grandchild Kade. He is also survived by his brothers Mike (Suzanne) Cunningham, Rochester N.Y., Tom Cunningham, Saint John, sisters Mary Barnes, Innisfil, Ont. Nancy Clifford Saint John, Marlene Whitman Saint John, and Anne (Don) Doiron Saint John. David is predeceased by his brothers, Jim (Judy) Cunningham, Stephen Cunningham, and Peter Cunningham.
One of David's passions was baseball, and he earned the nickname "Slugger" due to his talent in the sport. He was an avid reader and rarely seen without a book. David enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Adanac Club, where he was a longtime member. He worked for many years at Fundy Fencing and later drove a taxi.
David's family and friends will gather to pay their respects at Brenan's Funeral Home (506-634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, from 5 to 8pm. Family Vigil Prayers will take place preceding the visitation at 4pm.
