Obituary of Kari Margaret Bourque
Bourque: Kari Margaret (nee Kristoffersen)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kari Margaret Bourque (nee Kristoffersen), daughter of the late Kaare Kristoffersen and late Ruth Kristoffersen (nee Journeay).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her precious granddaughter Maggie, who tragically passed away this past August.
She leaves behind her loving and caring husband, Romeo, as well as her daughter Susan (Mark Taylor) of Ontario, sister Lynn Kristoffersen, brothers Dr. Arthur Kristoffersen (Tom Waterman), and Erik Kristoffersen, all of Saint John.
Although she did not have a chance to travel much in the last few years, she always cherished her grandchildren, Karin , Andrew and Maggie. She also leaves behind nephews Samuel, Petter, Mario and nieces Anna, Rachelle, Julie, and Isabelle.
Kari was well liked by all who knew her and enjoyed her many years working at UNBSJ prior to taking an early retirement in 2001 due to health issues. She loved the sun and sand as she travelled many times to Florida, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Mexico amongst other vacation places. During her teens, she also travelled to Norway to visit her Norwegian relatives and later to France.
Kari also leaves her cousins, Louise Stevenson (Ross), Charlie Peatman (Barb) and Bill (Sandi) Journeay. She had a special relationship with Louise as they would talk about the "good old days" for hours sometimes.
As well as her brothers, special thanks to Maurice, Bernard, Ronald, Rose-Marie, and especially Bernice for being there in this time of sorrow.
Sincere thanks to the staff of Stella Maris de Kent Hospital for their extraordinary care.
Friends and family will be received at Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Monday, November 27th, 2023, from 6 to 8pm, and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11am. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed via the Funeral Home website.
Donations in Kari's memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.BrenansFH.com.
