Bert has been a friend to our family forever. His activity and zest, on the water, slopes, links and in the community, inspired us. In my mother’s later years whenever she met Bert, there’d be a warm greeting and much conversation and laughter. We’re thinking of the entire Cosman family as Bert’s long, well-lived, adventurous life is celebrated. He was a special person.……Mike and Lynne Kearney

We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Cosman’s (Berts) death. He certainly lived a long and full , amazing life. He is an inspiration for all. We were so glad to have been able to spend the New Years party in St. Andrews with him past Dec. His sense of humour and sparkle in his eyes will not be forgotten. I showed him a photo of him dancing with Peggy and he said “ I look like an old man” We both had a chuckle over that. I remember him driving us home from swimming team at the Y in elementary school and he had a large portable phone ,well before cell phones and he would call Shirley and say home soon and ready for dinner. He was a very caring and gentle person. He certainly loved all especially his family .We hope all the great memories help you all during these times. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care Stephen & Jean Hickman

Mike, Lauren, Justin,
My thoughts are with you guys in this difficult time. I believe I met Poppy once, maybe twice in person, but I have had the good fortune to visit him many times in your memories and reminiscences. It was clear to me by the way you all spoke of him that he was loved and needed.
You guys chose a great photo for this memorial. It shows a joy of life and love for adventure that I recognize in all the Cosmans.
I will be there to celebrate Bert’s life with you next week. Take care!

When I heard about Poppi's death, it was like Lord while so soon. I just found a family friend who had shown me so much love through his hugs and smiles whenever he was around. I started to feel happy and relax feeling so much better, then you took him away. I am sad. Then God said to me again, that I don't allow my children to suffer for long and that is why I took my child to rest. He is here with me, but will always be around you in the spirit. When this came in my thoughts I smile because I know Poppi is now our guiding angel like my mother is. May the Holy Spirit comfort the entire cosman families including his grandchildren greatgrandchildren and in laws. RIP Poppi. We love you poppi, but God love you best. You will live in my heart and my thoughts forever.

I was saddened to learn of Bert’s recent death. I have so many memories of Bert and his family throughout my life. The Sutherland and the Cosmans shared boating adventures in my childhood and he and Shirley were ever-present guests at our home for parties and other social events. I know my parents considered them both among their very dearest friends. They traveled together to distant places several times and the stories they brought home of their adventures lingered on for years. Always fun and full of energy, Bert was an inspiration to many on how to live a full life. My sincere condolences to the entire Cosman family.

I was a young engineer at NBTel where Bert was an amazing boss and I learned a lot from him. One thing I remember well as it involved a microwave link from Newcastle to Upsalquitch for a Broadcasting custmoer who wanted a meeting to improve the signal (which we were able to do). The risky part was the freezing rain we had to brave to get to the airport in Moncton as the meeting was in Montreal. We survived!
Joan and I want to recognize Bert's long and busy life by a donation to the Stephen Smith Scholarship at UNB Law.

I never had the opportunity to work closely with your Dad at NBTel but I was fortunate enough to have spent time with you in our dealings with Brunswick Micro. They were good years. My sympathy to you on the loss of your Dad. We are presently in Florida and will not be returning to NB for a month. Would love to see you this summer.

Bert and Shirley were two of the most gracious and kind people Donna and I have ever known. Bert, was always interested and interesting to all and about all. We enjoyed being around him..particularly as he enjoyed life..golf with Bert was an “engineering” experience and he was a whiz at the card table. We all have been enriched by knowing him and perhaps we can all aspire to follow in his footsteps . RIP Bert.

I wish I would have had the pleasure of meeting Poppi. He sounded like a kind, generous, curious, bright, and content person. Jari recently told me that Poppi skied into his 90s and won several races! He saw so many changes in his life but it sounds like he rolled with them. What an inspiration. I’m thinking of you Peggy, Meghan, Katie, Emily, and family, and I’m sorry for your loss.
