Obituary of William Verner Haslett
It is with profound sadness that the family of William “Bill” Verner Haslett announce his unexpected passing on April 26, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 10, 1936, in Saint John, New Brunswick, to the late William Verner and Clara Isabella (Waddell) Haslett, of the Kingston Peninsula.
Bill is survived by his sons: Terry (Lisa), Billy, and Cory; grandchildren: Brittany, Courtney, Tiffany, Matthew, and Ashley; several great grandchildren; sister Joan Vanwart; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Beverly Haslett (Fleming), and his wife Pauline Haslett (Coates).
Bill had a love for gardening and nature. He enjoyed cooking, baking, and making preserves. He was an avid jokester and very quick witted. He enjoyed telling stories of the good ol’ days and going for drives, especially in the Kingston Peninsula; his home. In the summer he would visit almost daily. He was a people person and was friendly with everyone, everywhere he went. He also enjoyed his many years working for the Oland family.
Bill lived a long, happy life, but is gone too soon. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Rest in Peace.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM from St. Paul’s Church in Whitehead, NB (23 Whitehead Wharf Road, Clifton Royal).
