Obituary of Kathleen Marilyn Withers
The family of Kathleen Marilyn Withers (nee Richardson) is saddened to announce her passing after a short illness. Marilyn passed peacefully, surrounded by her children, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 10, 2024.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Lawton (Stephen), Shirley Withers (John) and Fred Withers (Rebecca); her grandchildren, Erin, Avery, Tyler, Mitchell and Lindy and her brother, Bob Richardson (Mary); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Born in Sussex, NB, Marilyn met Ted and moved to the family farm in beautiful Black River where they raised their three children. Marilyn was active in the community leading Tiny Tots and Beavers. She enjoyed bingo, crib, knitting and bowling. Marilyn worked at Bentley Luggage, Value Village and Deluxe French Fries. “Nanny Coffee” as she was known to her grandchildren and chosen littles loved caring for children and animals.
Predeceased by her husband, Ted Withers; sister, Shirley Thorne; brother, John Richardson; mother, Jean Richardson; father, Murray Richardson; grandson, Alexander Tobin and granddaughter, Bliss Withers.
Although there will be no visitation or funeral service, relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service which will take place in the Withers Family Cemetery (44 Withers Road, Black River) on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura and the SJRH Emergency Department for the exceptional care provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
