To all of Carolyn and Bills family and friends my deepest sympathy on what I can only imagine has been a difficult loss, loosing both of them so close together. I know my Mom (Lorna Ellis) and Carolyn spent a lot of time on the phone together (hours) catching up! Thinking of you all and sending prayers.

Mrs Vail was my grade 3 teacher in 1977-78 and in those days most students came from the ‘Boulevard’ or the ‘courts’ and were being raised on Social Assistance. Mrs Vail greeted her class every morning with a big bright beautiful smile, being sure not to make us feel any different than any other students. I could go on and on about her kindness, but seeing the life she lived through the pictures, she didn’t just share herself with her students, she was part of an amazing loving family.
May her and Bill rest in eternal paradise
I will think of her often

My deepest condolences to all family members. Bill and Carolyn were wonderful relatives and such a wonderful couple, devoted to each other. I enjoyed talking to them at Roberta’s funeral this winter. Bill was helping Carolyn finding something she had misplaced. One helping the other , as usual. Geoff was like his parents - humorous like Bill. All will be reunited now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sincere condolences, Judy, to you and your family. Your parents were sweet and wonderful people. I always enjoyed my interactions with them and it brought me comfort to know they were living just above my mother. They offered her kindness and friendship and they will truly be missed. My family is very grateful for them. There will be no shortage of stories told in the coming days and I hope you are able to smile and take solace in the way they've touched so many lives. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

"Miss Vail" was my grade three teacher and I loved her. We all did! Even after almost 5 decades I can recall my time in her class vividly- and the creative special projects she assigned to make learning fun. Imagine my delight to discover I was her grandson Dan's teacher. 'They' say you teach how you were taught and so I count myself pretty lucky to have had "Miss Vail" in my life all those years ago. I'm sorry to hear of her sudden passing only hours after her husband's- a terrible shock and loss for you all.

My deepest condolences to Bill and Carolyn's family. Loved those chats with Bill of the travails of the Toronto Maple Leafs before entering church service at Portland, and of sharing the interest Bill had of the pipes and drums. Such a loving couple, and an honour to be friends.

I have many memories with the family one in particular was shortly after my father passed mom bought a house on Metcalf St Bill and Carolyn Had bought a house with a corner store in it on Victoria st a 3 minute walk from our house and we would go there for bread and milk when we would run out Bill would sneak us each a piece of candy we thought that was great but in later years we found out because they had called mom to ask her permission to give us each 1 piece of candy. I still remember Bill and Carolyn going curling with mom and dad all the time They are a wonderful kind gentle couple God Bless them

Judy and family please accept my condolences on the passing of Bill and Carolyn.
Your parents being supportive to my sister and her young family is something that our family has never forgotten and showed how wonderful people they were.
From a being teased as a kid so long ago at Crystal Beach by Bill (and him being reprimanded by Carolyn for it) all the way to visiting them to go over their taxes later in life was always something I was happy to do. I am grateful to have been able to go from being a child of friends to being a friend.
