Dear Leslie:
I knew your Mom for so many years and always looked forward to seeing her. She was so proud of you and visits were always filled with stories of you and her wonderful grandchildren. Maurice and I had our wedding reception at the cottage on the Saint John River. We have so many happy memories of time spent with your Mom and Uncle Bob. Thinking of you, Jane Cooke Wong

Dear Leslie,
I knew your mother from church and remember her as being kind and thoughtul. Even though I left the Saint John area many years ago, she took the time to write to me when I became an elder in my church in Montreal. I know that my mother, Grace, greatly appreciated her friendship over the years.
My sincere condolences to you and to your family.

I was a Girl Guide at St Luke's like so many here, and have wonderful memories of that time, especially going camping. I remember how pleased she was when we were setting up the tents on the first evening at sunset and we saw a moose swimming out in the river!
Vivian introduced me to volunteering at the (then) St John and St Stephen Nursing Home, where I made lifelong friends. I was always glad to meet up with her through church events when I was back in Saint John visiting family.
My condolences to all the family.

Dear Leslie, and children,
My sister Linda and I are so very sad your Mom has passed away. It does go back to St. Lukes Church for Girl Guides. We had wonderful memories at Guides with your Mom. Later I was always getting great ideas for our Girl Guide Company. What an awesome Lady.
We were in Quebec City swimming for NB last week and we missed everything. So sorry Leslie thinking of you now and hopefully you have lots of energy to get through the weeks to come.
Love Brenda and Linda Graham

Leslie and family Thinking of you as you say a final goodbye to your Mom who was such a wonderful lady. She gave so much to so many through her 90+ years. I enjoyed working with her at Wassons and our chats and visits in recent years. She was so proud of you and her grandchildren and amazed me that until recently still made the trip to Boston to be with you for those important occasions. May the many happy memories help you through the days ahead.

Leslie, James and G,
We have been friend/family for years. I’ve grown to know you and your extended family, and look forward to many years ahead. Our family members groom our way through life and Vivian’s influence will live forever. We will all miss her 50mph solo drives from CAN, bags of Canadian treats, and soft warm hugs. I often felt like I had to hug softly as she wasn’t the largest in stature. It’s tough to say goodbye so don’t focus on the farewell. Celebrate the life she shared. James and G, be sure to give your mom a soft hug, she can use one for sure. Shane, Tricia, Jackson and Alexandra.

My very sincere condolences Leslie. Your mom was an incredible woman. I always felt like she was my church mom and I will miss her so much! Whether it was decorating the church for Christmas or women’s group activity ahe always included me and told me I was an honorary member of the women’s group. She was stern but she had a great sense of humour. The first thing I can remember about Vivian was that she was the person who looked after planning my wedding reception 43 years ago. We will miss you Vivian!

So sorry to read of Vivian’s passing. She was one of the Canadian Girl Guide leaders who went to England to the World
Girl Guide Camp held in Windsor Great Park in 1957 along with about 48 Girl Guides from across Canada. There were about six Guides representing New Brunswick, including me. I believe Vivian was the only leader from NB. She was great fun on the trip! It was a wonderful experience! My sympathy to her family!

I was one of the very many girls that Vivian had in her Girl Guide troop at St Luke’s. Vivian was petite in stature but her personality and her joyous laugh would fill the church hall we met in. She and the other wonderful leaders we had were so giving of their time and love. Whenever we would have a day off of school, we would ask for an outing. Rarely, if ever, were we refused. A hike or a road trip to Maces Bay would be planned. Myself, and I am sure many other girls did not realize that Vivian, Debbie Chapman, Marion Long and Marion Sherwood were full time Medical Laboratory Technologists at the Provincial Laboratory ( beside the Old General Hospital) at the time . They must have used most of their vacation days to ensure that us girls were taken care of. Last but not least were the week long camps in the summer at the Girl Guide camp on the Belleisle. Weekend winter camps as well at the Girl Guide Camp.
I know that Vivian’s presence in my life during those teenage years was one of the most important things to have made me the person I am today.
My condolences to her family. May your memories carry you forward.

Leslie, So sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful mom Vivian. I was on the camping committee years ago with Vivian and we would have our monthly meetings at your home. We would have these meetings during my lunch hour from work. She would always serve tea in her beautiful china tea cups. However, she always told me that I was too young to have tea and always had a sandwich and a glass of milk ready for me. Hold all of your wonderful memories close to your heart.

Vivian was the first person who really talked to me when I visited Grace (then St. John and St. Stephen) Presbyterian, looking for a church family. She then called me, just 2 days after getting my phone installed, to tell me about Spencer Belyea and Messiah rehearsals. She made me feel more welcome than any other church I visited that fall, which was a factor in my choosing my new church family.
She did so much for others, and the Women's Group at the church was a vibrant, busy group under her guidance. Seeing her, I can understand why she was so successful in Guides. So inspiring, so vibrant, so awesome and amazing.
Leslie, Gillian, and James, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the privilege of getting to know Vivian through our shared interest in Romero House. She was always so kind, caring and concerned for the folks we serve. Her weekly telephone calls to see what was on our food wish list were a bright spot in my day.
I remember the first time I met Vivian years ago. I was driving the truck (filling in for Stan’s vacation) and went to pick up the soup.
I told Vivian how delicious their soup was and how it was very affectionately known at Romero House as “Presbyterian Soup”. She found that quite amusing and I believe was a bit pleased with the label. I will miss her phone calls and soup made with love.

Leslie and family,
My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your dear mother and grandmother. I first met Vivian at Camp Oswego as a Girl Guide. Our units often shared the campsite with hers. I remember marvelling at her cooking over a wood burning camp stove. Luxurious when compared to our open cooking fire. Leslie I remember her bringing you along to camp as a toddler. Our paths crossed many times over the years both in Guiding and at the Church Home when I worked there.
We all owe her so much for her unselfish commitment and volunteerism.

I didn't have much interaction with Aunt Vivian until I started working at Wassons Pharmacy. I have very fond memories of the two of us working together to provide the best solution for our patients. I also have to admit it was a guilty pleasure of mine to share funny or shocking events or diagnosis with her to see her reaction. I was a better Pharmacist with her wise counsel. I am grateful I got a chance to know her better.
