Obituary of Bertha Elizabeth Cyr
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Bertha E. Cyr on October 9, 2024, at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Fords Mills, NB, on February 13, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Laura and James Smith.
Besides her children, Judy (Wayne) Pollock and Tom (Deb) Cyr, she will be greatly missed by daughter-in-law Debbie Cyr, grandchildren; Jeffrey (Vanessa) Pollock, Jennifer (Troy) Elliott, Lisa DeBow (Jeff), Angela Cyr (Cecil), Gregory (Candace) Cyr, Alyssa Cyr, and Jason Cyr; great-grandchildren Emma, Drew, Marcus, Megan, Jenna, Logan, Dylan, Liam, Sophie, Greer, and Kayla; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bertha is the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her son Wayne Cyr, brothers Fred, Ernest, and Albert Smith, sister Janie Beckingham, sisters-in-law Valerie Cyr, Gladys Rowe, and Esther Cyr, brothers-in-law James, Leonard, and Peter Cyr, and Gordon Rowe.
Bertha worked for many years at the Telegraph Journal where she met her husband, Leo. They spent many happy hours boating on the Saint John and Kennebecasis Rivers. She enjoyed travelling to all the different cities that her son Tom was posted during his time with the R.C.M.P.
We wish to thank the staff of the Loch Lomond Village for their excellent care, and especially to her special care giver - Heidi, whom she really loved!
We will miss you greatly, dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Say hello to Dad and Wayne for us. They have waited a long time to see you and until we meet again, rest in peace.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan's on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
