Obituary of Mary "Dianne" McCluskey
With heavy hearts, the family of Dianne (Cormier) McCluskey announce her passing on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March 30, 1943, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Lionel and Emmiline (Mulherin) Cormier.
Dianne grew up in Saint John. At 16 years old she met the love of her life, a Navy Sailor (Pat) at a dance. They danced the night away and never stopped. Dianne and Pat were true soul mates. They were best friends and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Dianne and Pat lived in Dartmouth NS for 13 years and moved back to Saint John in 1979. Dianne worked at the Saint John Regional Hospital for 21 years (1982 - 2003) before she retired. She enjoyed her many years at the Regional Hospital and was known for her cheerful and positive personality. Dianne was a big sports fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their hockey games and even travelling with the team to away games. She enjoyed celebrating special days and events, such as Canada Day and St. Patrick’s Day. Dianne and Pat would dress up and enjoy these special occasions. They enjoyed many fun times and created a lifetime of amazing memories. Dianne was a proud supporter of Pat’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces. She was a member of the Legion and continued to support Pat in his role as President and Past President at Legion Branch #2.
Dianne loved spending time with her 4 children and was grateful to be able to enjoy their company and the amount of time they spent together.
Dianne is survived by her beloved children: Pat McCluskey (Marilyn), Tina Marr (Ron), Tanya McCluskey-Kelly (Mark), and Mike McCluskey (Krista); grandchildren: Stephen (Erin), Jennifer (Dave), Jeff (Jordan), Josh, Brandon, Connor, Carter, and Chase; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Parker, Mason, Henry, and Landyn; sister, Shirley Meldon; brother, Donald Cormier (Theresa); and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Dianne was predeceased by her cherished husband of almost 60 years, Patrick William McCluskey; her sister, Dorothy Maleszyk; and her brother, Lawrence Cormier.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Legion Tribute Service will begin at 7 pm, during visitation hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 12:10 pm from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Saint John, a Celebration of Life will take place directly after the Funeral at Jungle Jim's ( West SJ). Interment will take place on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1 pm in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
