Obituary of Judith Frances Moore
To reflect on the life of Judith Frances Moore is to also reflect on the life of someone who has lived with mental health struggles throughout their life, and to also honour those in a similar situation. Hers was a complicated journey, often fraught with an intensity not experienced by most. And yet, she was also able to enjoy with delight the sweeter and more simple things in life, when the waves were calmer.
She had an incredible, healing smile that could change the mood of anyone that crossed paths with it. She had a deep love of books and enjoyed reading to her children and taking them to the library in their early years. She loved singing and listening to music, and attended functions for the arts, when she was able. She entered the workplace at a time when most married women with children were not present there. Similarly, she served in non-traditional roles in her church at a time when most women were not encouraged to do so.
Lewy Body dementia entered the picture well over a decade ago causing more intense ups and downs. However, with the correct medications and supports, she became more childlike and a slightly different version of herself appeared. A version maybe closer to what she perhaps was like before the complexities of life set in.
She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
We are deeply thankful to all of the wonderful staff at Concorde Hall and Embassy Hall at the Shannex Parkland in the Valley. Thank you for all of your patience, kindness, and hard work over the years. And thank you also to Dr. Sarah Thompson of Seniors’ Mental Health.
