Obituary of Dr. Gordon Raymond Mockler
It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Raymond Mockler announce his passing which occurred on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Gordon was born on August 15, 1938 in Minto, NB to Donald and Corinne Mockler.
Gordon graduated with his medical degree from Dalhousie University in 1965. He practised Family Medicine in Saint John, NB from 1965 to 1978 and spent the remainder of his time working in Rehabilitation Medicine. During his medical career he served as President of the Saint John Medical Society from 1992-1993 and President of the New Brunswick Medical Society from 1995-1996. During his career he was a member of the Saint John Medical Society, New Brunswick Medical Society, College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB, Canadian Medical Association - Life Membership and the Canadian Pain Society.
Gordon was an avid sports fan and played many sports including baseball, hockey, soccer and golf. He was a Past President of the Westfield Golf and Country Club, a member of the Westfield Art Association and a proud member of the Shriners. Gordon coached minor hockey and minor baseball, which he enjoyed very much. Gordon was an avid fisherman, hunter and guide. He loved his New York Yankees, New York Giants and the Montreal Canadiens.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Lynda (Macaulay) Mockler and his children, Raymond (Nicole) of Panama City, FL, Christine (Richard Langley) of Halifax NS, Donald of Fort St. James, BC and Stephen (Dawn) of Fredericton NB; ten grandchildren, Heather Lorin (Arkadiy), Lynda Mockler, Stewart, Ross, Charlotte, Elizabeth and James Langley, Rachel, Patrick and Daniel Mockler; two great-grandchildren; Mira and Rose Lorin; four sisters, Elizabeth Grimmer, Marilyn Mockler (Rob), Charlotte Hiscock (Wilf) and Karen Robertson (John); brother-in-law, Kenneth Macaulay (Betty); sisters-in-law, Emily Lusk and Ruth Anne Gillan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Church of the Resurrection, 20 MacDonald Avenue, Grand Bay-Westfield on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
