Obituary of Michael "Mike" Donovan
With heavy hearts, the family of Michael Stephen Donovan, husband of 51 years to Annie (Irvine) Donovan, announce his passing on Monday, June 21, 2021, at his residence in Quispamsis. Born in Saint John on November 23, 1946, he was a son of the late Donald Stephen and Catherine Grace (Fritch) Donovan.
Michael “Mike” was a police officer with Rothesay Regional Police for 35+ years, but his true passions were hunting and fishing. He was always willing to help or offer suggestions to people new to the sport of fishing. Many will fondly remember him from the riverbanks swapping tall stories about his own fishing abilities or bragging about the actual fishing abilities of his beloved granddaughters.
In addition to his wife, Annie, Michael is survived by his son, Stephen (Isabelle Morin) of Ottawa; daughter, Donna Knox (Jason) of Rothesay; granddaughters, Lauren and Sarah Knox; his brother, Patrick (Donna) of BC; sister, Susan Dunningan (Neil) of BC; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his twin brother, David; and his brother, Thomas.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. In keeping with Michael’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances to the Hammond River Angling Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
