Obituary of Mary Elise McIntyre
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Elsie McIntyre on September 20, 2022. Born in Saint John April 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (DesRoche) Kristiansen.
Mother had a heart of gold and would help anyone in any way she could. She had a way of making all her family and friends feel special, loved and of course, always welcomed in her home, sometimes for very long stays. A lifelong seeker of knowledge, Mother travelled extensively to Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Scandinavia and the Soviet Union. She was like a sponge absorbing knowledge and retaining it and sharing it with everyone. Our home was always filled with music and she passed this love of music on to her children. A devout Catholic, her strong faith helped her through the challenges in life and she loved to share her faith with others. Our parents had a very strong marriage and they were a great example to so many. We find joy in knowing Mother and Dad are together again and watching over all those they loved.
She will be dearly missed by her sons John (Brenda), Joseph, Kristopher (Jacqueline) and daughter Paula McCormick (Stephen), 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Carmelita Gautreau, Gertrude Gibson, Kristiana LeBlanc, Hazel Lindsay, Loreen Kristiansen, Louise Kristiansen and Hyordis Driscoll, her brothers, Frank, Karl and Ralph and by her loving husband of 68 years John (Jack) McIntyre.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kingsway Nursing home for their compassionate care of our Mother and to Achsah Mosher who was her care giver for many years.
