Obituary of Ruth Nina Mason

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth Nina (Coram) Mason, wife of John “Ted” Mason, on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born November 24, 1947, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Lilliam M. (Hawkes) Coram.

Ruth worked at the National Bank for 36 years, moving her way up to become the Manager of the Data Centre, and a change of careers brought her to Remax, where she sold real estate until her retirement. Her son was the centre of her universe, along with his wife and her precious grandchildren. Her son’s mother-in-law, Sharon Memory, became her travel partner and a best friend, and was her “Louise”, as Ruth was “Thelma”. 

In addition to her husband, Ted, she is survived by her son, Chris and his wife Candace; granddaughters, Meagan and Emma Galbraith; and one of her best friends, Sharon Memory; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Allan and her sister, Marion.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care of Ruth in her final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visiting will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 12 to 2 pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
