It was sad news today that I found out my Uncle Bob had passed away. He was my father Raymond’s brother. Although I’d only met him twice in my life on those occasions he visited us in the U.K. he happily shared stories of his life in Canada. We wrote on a regular basis and he would always write a letter to my daughter Emma and send her things from the Dragon Boat races. It was at Christmas time when we never heard from him that I feared the worst. Reading all the wonderful memories of him I know he was a kind and much loved member of his community. He would regularly send us newspaper cuttings and mementoes of his fund raising for local charities and hospitals. So proud of him and all he achieved. Rest in Peace Uncle Bob.

If you want to be a good union person, you should study the career of Brother Bob Apperley. Whenever there was a need to volunteer his time for his union, he was always there. Whenever there was a need to donate his and his union's collective strength to our community, he was always there. He was a Giant of a person that we see too rarely in our midst. May we express our prayers and deepest condolences to his Family and many Brothers and Sisters upon his passing. You should know that he will receive his just reward.
In Solidarity,
Pat Riley

St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation would like to express our deepest condolences to Bob's family and his adopted family Local 213. His passing is felt by all of us. For as long as any of us can remember Bob has been a loyal and faithful friend to St. Joseph's Hospital Family and particularly our Foundation staff, he was a true friend and an inspiration to all of us. We were better individually and collectively because of him, Bob certainly made our community a better place. While we will miss our friend we feel truly blessed to have known him. May he rest in the peace he so richly deserves.
