Heartfelt condolences to the entire family. God bless his soul! I met Rob in 2007 when we hired him for some development sites and then he became a friend and then an older brother. We shared numerous laughs and stories as we travelled back and forth to Saskatchewan over a few years. Rob was truly a good man and someone who was honest and fair. Will never forget you my friend!

Ah Rob, what a guy. One of those special people that has ‘something’ that drew you to him. One funny night in the past was in Victoria, when at an Italian restaurant he put some slices of tomato on his eyes for a laugh and one minute later he couldn’t see because of the stinging. Joanne wasn’t impressed.
RIP old friend. Ed & Linda Wells

My deepest condolences to the entire family.
I first met Rob at the lunch time soccer with the group called Surrey Slackers as I was an engineering student with another company. Rob was a very helpful and a kind human being who I had lots of respect for. I remember he offered me a job at Aplin & Martin where he was the president at the time. We will all miss him.

I first met Rob playing recreational soccer for the Surrey Slackers here in BC. I liked him so much I tried to hire him for McElhanney several times over the years until he finally relented and joined us. He was a good engineer, and so determined to please the clients that he sometimes forgot we needed to invoice to keep the doors open! Everyone at McElhanney and the Surrey Slackers has fond memories of Rob. Chris Newcomb, Vancouver.

Rob hired me in 1989 and started me on my career as an engineer at Aplin Martin. A company that Rob was instrumental in its success as part of the second generation of owners. Rob held many positions and eventually was the President for a number of years. Rob was a positive influence in the company and I enjoyed knowing and working with Rob. Andrew Baker

My condolences for the loss of Rob.
I met Robert a couple of times on vacation in the Philippines.
To me he was a very gentle and understanding man. I loved the way he was open to the world.
I remember sitting in front of the house in the Philippines, drinking something. Morning coffee, occasional beer or something just refreshing. Looking at people passing by.
I was privileged to drive Robert and Beth around a little in the Philippines. In short, Robert is one of the most remarkable men in my life. I will miss him dearly.

I am very grateful to have had Papa Rob in my life. He used to take care of me as baby when my mother was busy. As I got older, we drifted apart, but we would meet again when Mommy Beth and Papa Rob were on vacation. He was always kind and gentle towards me. Even though I don’t remember much about him, I know he was a good man. My condolences to his family. It saddens me to know he has passed, and I will miss him very much.

During times like this, there’s a lot of good memories with Rob to look back on. Though he was strict, deep inside he had a good heart. He was a loving person and was ready to help anyone whenever needed. Our heartful gratitude to him. We will miss you, Rob.

Sending all our love and deepest condolences to you all during this very difficult time.
"To be continued..." is a memory that I have from when Rob and Ken with family were visiting us in Toronto, Rob and I were having a great chat about music before he and Ken were about to go out. Ken said, "come on Rob, the beer is getting cold (brilliant joke)"!
Rob said to me, Cindy, to be continued...!".
Mourning and celebrating as I think of you all and the deep relationships he shared, especially with his family.
Love, Cindy, Tom and Marasia

Very sad to hear of Rob's passing. Rob was a great mentor to me professionally as a young civil engineer. He always made time to give me advise or an encouraging word no matter how busy he was with him own responsibilities. He had a heart of gold and wore it on his sleeve every day. He will be truly missed.

I first met Rob in Miss Fleming's Grade 4 class at Beaconsfield School and since then we have maintained a lifelong friendship. So many memories including our years together as roommates in University, best man at his first marriage and the fun we had as 2 married couples, our time together in Edmonton and then our regular trips to White Rock. Losing Rob feels like we lost a part of our history and we will miss that. Rest in peace, my friend.

Our sincerest condolences to the McCurdy family. My wife Anne was a classmate of Rob’s at Saint John High School back in 1967/68, and I met Rob (Robbie) for the first time when I moved to Calgary in 1974. Though Anne & I lived in Calgary we managed to stay in touch with Rob during his many years living in White Rock area of BC, with the help of many updates from our mutual friends Ken & Peggy Betts. We lost touch for a few decades after moving to Halifax, but we were so happy to see him again, and meet Beth, at the Saint John High School 50 year Class Reunion in 2019. Rob will be missed by all who knew him.
