Celebration of Life
Obituary of Robert Laurence McCurdy
Good times and good food is how family and friends will remember Robert Laurence McCurdy, affectionately known as Gutsy. Rob peacefully passed on November 7, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on September 13, 1950, in Blacks Harbour, NB to the late Kenneth McCurdy and Barbara (Stewart) McCurdy. Rob survived by his adored wife Beth who he let win at tennis. Rob also survived by his two daughters Danielle Henry (Justin) of Sussex and Angela McCurdy (Marc Giroux) of Saint John, brothers; David McCurdy (Gale) of Summerville, Kenneth McCurdy (Kim) of Grand Bay-Westfield, James McCurdy of Public Landing, grandson Matthew Henry, and extended family. Rob was predeceased by his parents, his brother Daniel McCurdy, and infant granddaughter Iris Henry.
Rob was a passionate Civil Engineer for many years, an avid pie baker, and a music enthusiast. A competitive athlete in hockey, baseball, soccer, and skiing for pleasure. Rob had a zest for life, spoke eloquently, and had a kind heart. Always thinking of his family and enjoying their company by participating in the shenanigans and making his lethal margaritas better known as “Roberitas”. Each parting never a goodbye, rather “to be continued”.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), where family and friends are invited for a gathering in the Reception Area on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 12-2PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2PM in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A livestream of Rob’s service can also be viewed on the provided link at www.brenansfh.com. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Sussex Minor Hockey League.
