Obituary of Doreen Mary Arthur
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Arthur (Ballard) announces her passing on December 11, 2023. She was born in Saint John on January 1, 1939. Doreen was the eldest daughter of John and Mary (Daley) Ballard. She is survived by her brothers Joe (Therese) of Venice, FL, Kevin of Vancouver BC, and Kris (Raymonde) of Yellowknife, NT, and by her sister Pat Engalls of Saint John. She is also survived by her son Kory of Viera, FL, grandsons Duncan and Matthew, and several nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her brothers Ray and Doug.
Doreen had a lengthy career as a switchboard operator. She began her journey at NB Tel, before moving to the Canadian National Railway at Union Station, and Canada Post on Rothesay Ave. She then worked for the DVA Hospital on the west side, before moving to the Saint John Regional Hospital, where she ended her career. During retirement she was active in the Canadian Legion and in the RiverCross Church. Doreen loved retirement and the added time it gave her to spend time with family and friends. During the past couple of years, she resided at Rocmaura Nursing Home. A warm thank you is extended to Elizabeth and all the staff at Rocmaura for their kindness.
