Obituary of Judith Ann Foster
Rejoice, and weep not.
She has shed her worn out tent.
And fled this mortal world.
She is clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
And dwells with her lord and Savior
Rejoice, and praise His Holy Name.
Judith Ann Foster entered her rest on January 19th, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born Judith Ann Little, May 13th, 1950, in Saint John N.B. to Jack and Winnifred Little. She graduated from Saint John High School where she met her future husband Brian (didn’t really care for me then) and went on to graduate from UNBSJ with a BBA where she got to know me better and finally married me after graduation in 1974.
We raised two wonderful children (more she than me) – Our daughter, Lauren Gaudet (Craig) who gave us three grandchildren; Isaac (Riley), Noah, and Samson – Our son, Greg (Joy), and another grandchild Trent. She never got to know of her great-granddaughter Lydia (Isaac and Riley). She would have loved to spoil her rotten.
Judy always believed in giving back, whether it was Brownies, The Christmas Exchange, The Canadian Cancer Society, or a host of others.
She never made friends easily, but when she did make them, they were a friend for life.
She always spoke her mind, not at all concerned with being politically correct, but it was never done maliciously and more often than not was about a wrong that had harmed someone and that she felt needed to be corrected.
Judy loved to entertain whether just one or two friends or a house full. She was an extraordinary cook and loved to show off those skills, especially during holidays. Christmas day was spent with her family but what became known as “The Boxing Day Bash” (my family and 20-30 of our friends) became legendary.
She had a strong Christian faith and was a faithful church member until her illness forced her to remain at home.
She is survived by her only brother Ashley (Pat), brothers-in-law; Wayne (Hilary) Gary, and Mark (Kathleen) Sister-in-law: Barb and a host of nephews and nieces.
I cannot begin to describe what it feels like to watch a friend and lover of so many years fade away piece by piece until the one I loved is no longer present. I can tell you that the staff of the Turnbull Nursing Home took over when I could no longer care for her and have looked after her these past four+ years with all the love and devotion that she could ask for, for which I am grateful beyond measure.
Judy’s wish was to be cremated and a private family funeral will be held at a later date. A celebration of her life will be held at – Chipman Hill Suites - 71 Sydney St, Saint John from 2-5pm on February 3rd, 2024.
